A magnificent UK Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 with just 6,431 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT

Rigid high-tensile double cradle steel frame, painted front mudguard, fuel tank, side and rear farings, 43mm front fork, multi-adjustable nitrogen-charged twin shocks with piggy-back reservoirs, triple disc brakes, double box-section aluminium swingarm with eccentric rear chain adjusters, lustrous chrome fittings, polished alloy engine covers, adjustable hand levers, push-to-cancel indicator switch, centre and side stands, speedometer, tachometer, odometer, tripmeter, electric start, engine stop switch, oil light, high beam light, neutral indicator, fuel gauge, horn, folding front and rear footrests, fuel valve, helmet hitch.

EXTERIOR

With styling influence clearly drawn from the iconic Z1 model, this Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 is finished in factory original Luminous Vintage Red, one of just two available colours with the other choice being Candy Atlantic Blue.  Magnificently detailed in every respect, this example is a useable showpiece representative of the mere 6,431 miles covered and the fastidious ownership from new.  The correct anthracite finish to the frame, frame ancillaries and headlamp bowl is immaculate and the frame stock stamping is clearly visible.  The stunning red paintwork looks incredible with only two miniscule tank dings and a touched in stone chip visible only upon meticulous scrutiny.  The farings, chrome and suspension components are undamaged and exceptionally clean, and all badges, rubbers and switchgear are preserved.  The original seat has no rips and beneath the seat sits an untouched and complete factory Kawasaki toolkit.  Fantastic in every respect.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The four-stroke in-line four-cylinder air cooled DOHC engine features four Keihin CVK34 carburettors, digital electronic ignition, twin oil pumps and a massive 7-row oil cooler.  This phenomenal 1062cc machine produces a thumping 93hp and 89Nm of torque, enough to smoothly propel the rider to a top speed of 136.4mph.  The engine number is clearly visible as is the countless days of meticulous cleaning and detailing that has gone into upholding the pristine engine aesthetics.  Both exhaust cans are factory fitted baring the clear KH1 K 292 stampings and there is a miniscule ding to the offside piece.  The 5-speed constant mesh gearbox is a joy.

WHEELS,TYRES & BRAKES

This Zephyr 1100 retains its beautiful original and unrestored polished alloy rims in superb condition and still displaying Kawasaki and ASAHI TEC 1 stampings to the satin black inner spokes.  Premium matching Bridgestone Battlax BT023 120/70 ZR18M/C front and 160/70/ZR17M/C rear tyres were replaced in 2020 and have covered less than 1,000 miles.  The factory fitted tyres are also with the bike to further please originality seekers.  The triple-disc braking system features twin front discs with 4-piston twin-bore callipers and a single rear disc with dual-piston calliper.

HISTORY FILE

This matching numbers 1992 Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 represents a very original and unmolested example that has formed part of a privileged collection worthy of a museum.  Frame number 212 makes this an early first production year bike that was registered new on the 1st August 1992 by Kawasaki main agent, Garozzo Motor Cycles Ltd of Sidcup.  First owner, Mr Baines, owned the bike until 1997 when at just 617 miles he sold it to Paul Smart Ltd.  Paul Smart was a legendary TT and Circuit Racer who owned said dealership in Paddock Wood, Kent and such was his fame that Ducati made a replica of his race bike.  Tragically Mr Smart was killed in a road traffic collision in 2021.  The second owner, Mr Lancaster, spotted the Zephyr 1100 whilst riding past the dealership on his Zephyr 550.  ‘A dream machine’ was how he described the bike, (to his friend to whom he later sold the bike to), and he immediately paid a deposit.  In 2019 having given up riding, he sold the bike to his friend, Mr Mace, to whom he was Apprentice Master in the early 1990’s at the Motorcycle Division of the Roads Policing Unit.  Now a Roads Policing Unit Development Officer and Tactical Operations Command Rider, Mr Mace owns an amazing and eclectic collection of motorcycles all detailed, prepared and maintained to an incredible level in his mini-museum.

The history file comprises of an original owner’s manual and service book, many previous MOT certificates dating back to the mid 1990’s and invoices for servicing and maintenance.  The most recent service was carried out in May 2022 and the carburettors were subject to a full rebuild in July 2022 at a cost of almost £600.  Completing the history file are two sets of keys and an original Kawasaki Zephyr 1100 sales brochure.  Exceptional in every respect.

MOT July 2023, HPI Clear.
